Escape !!!

Yesterday, after i got home from work I went to go check up on my tortoises and to my suprise I did not find them in the pen. They had dug under the wooden walls because I did not follow my own advice of sinking in the walls in the ground 8 inches. I figured the new tortoise that had been living in the wild dug out and the one I bought followed. Of course, I paniced and started looking everywhere. I finally started looking around the pen and found Tuck, the one I had bought, he was just sitting about 2 feet away munching on some poppies. I figured, Doug, the tortoise from the wild high tailed it out of there. I was ok with losing her because she did not seem content at all being caged up and she was doing fine in the wild by herself. I wish her the best of luck. I will not be using the pen untill it is properly updated to permanently prevent escape.

New Outdoor Tortoise Pen

I have recently build a new outdoor pen for the torotises in a leftover spot of out garden. We had some extra wood left around so I just nailed them together in a rectangle shape. Unfortunately, the wood in not dug into the ground like it is suppose to be so they have been trying to dig out. To solve the problem I just put a few wooden stakes in the ground where they were digging. I also threw in so bark and rocks just so their pen isnt completely bare. I am bringing them in at night just because I dont want any racoons to mess with them as I dont have a top for it. During the day I usually put a box on top of half of it to give them some shade in the afternoon as it is been rediculously hot here in CA. This pen is only temperory as I moving back down to San Diego in a few monthes.

New Tortoise!!!

So recently within the last week I have obtained a new russian tortoise. A neighbor of mine posted found signs for a turtle. I called them up and offered to adopt if no one claimed it or atleast hold it for them until someone did. So far no one has claimed her. (Yes its a female). It looks pretty old and fully grown. It's nails are all the way worn down, andI think it has been in the wild for a long time. I kinda feel bad keeping him as it seems she was doing fine on her own but at the same time I dont want to let her go. Anyways pictures are coming soon!
